TBT: Egmont Key, Florida
My husband and I used to live in Florida. I met him while he was living in Florida (I was in Arizona then) and I moved there in 2008 to be with him. We married in 2010, and in 2012 we moved to Minnesota. We haven't regretted the decision to move even once, but that doesn't mean we don't miss Florida. Thankfully we still have a reason to visit every year; my in-laws currently live there along with a lot of our closest friends.
Today is Thursday, so I thought a good ole #TBT would be in order. Nearly three years ago to the day in April we were enjoying the Sunshine state of Florida to its fullest before moving up north. We visited our favorite camping spot (someday I'll feature photos of THAT magical place), explored new territories, fished with friends, and had plenty of beach time catching rays. Solar rays, that is, not stingrays. Although there's always a lot of those around too.
The photos I'm sharing today are from a single-day excursion to an island off the west coast of Florida called Egmont Key, part of the Fort De Soto area. Mike and I, along with two of our dearest friends, packed food and other water-related gear, lathered our bodies with sunscreen, and took a ferry out to this shiny island for some tropical r&r.
Guys: wasn't it hot as balls that day? And windy? And wasn't the sun scorching the moisture out of our pruny brown bodies? That's what I remember.
But I also remember that it was a perfect day. Brightest sun, bluest water, warmest sand.
Actually the sand was burning hot too... but no matter.
Here's to more days in our bathing suits, more salt in our hair, more sunburn on our shoulders, more sheepshead in our hands, more waves to ride, and more absolutely carefree days with each other. xo
